Quick answer: Plan one playable Mahjong set and one mat for each active table, then confirm any racks, pushers, or teaching equipment separately. For a personalized table, an existing mat design with a name or original full-surface artwork can be reviewed from one custom mat. A fully custom Mahjong set is a different production route that starts at 200 sets.

Start with the number of tables, not a holiday motif

Write down the number of simultaneous four-player tables and whether anyone will teach or demonstrate the game. The practical baseline is one complete set and one correctly sized mat per playing table. Add a teaching set or operational spare only if your event plan needs one. Our club and event quantity guide explains the calculation.

Check the tile manifest before buying. A photographed ready-stock reference set contains 160 acrylic tiles in an individual yellow box, without dice, instructions, racks, or other accessories. Exact SKU, size, availability, and any additions need confirmation. If your group uses a different tile count or accessory list, state that in the inquiry rather than assuming every box is event-ready.

Choose between two personalized mat routes

The simplest route is to ask which existing mat designs can receive a guest, family, or club name. Confirm the chosen base design, spelling, type position, and print proof before production. For a distinct New Year's visual, supply your own original or authorized full-surface artwork and request a feasibility review. A midnight palette, restrained metallic-looking color direction, or celebratory border can suggest the occasion without printing a year across the playing area.

Henry Mahjong's custom mat uses a printable fabric surface with a composite backing and an approximately 2–3 mm finished profile. The current design tool previews 60, 80, 84, 90, and 100 cm square sizes. Custom mats can start from one piece, including a requested solid-color bound edge. Size, print placement, binding color, and final construction still belong in the written specification and approved sample. See the custom mat options or preview a layout in 3D.

Make the seasonal design reusable

If the same group plays monthly, keep any fixed date or year off the permanent artwork. Use a year-neutral background and put the date on a removable invitation, table card, or packaging insert instead. This is a planning suggestion, not a claim that a specific insert comes with the product. Keep names and decorative borders away from the central tile area so the surface remains comfortable to play on. Approve text scale and color against a print proof rather than a phone screenshot alone.

When does a custom set make sense?

A new tile-face design, branded backs, or coordinated private-label packaging can be valuable for a retail or club program, but it is not the same as ordering one personalized mat. Fully custom Mahjong set production starts at 200 sets; lower-volume requests need separate route and cost review. For a smaller event, ask whether a current acrylic design can serve as a color or construction reference. Do not assume a New Year's set design is already stocked or can be delivered by a particular date.

Send a quote-ready party brief

Ask for current production and shipping feasibility before advertising an arrival date to guests. A submitted inquiry is a planning step, not a delivery guarantee.
