Best route for one recipient: Choose an existing mat design and ask to add the recipient's name, or provide original or authorized full-surface artwork. Custom Mahjong mats can start from one piece, including a custom solid-color bound edge. A fully custom tile set normally starts at 200 sets, so it suits a club, brand, or group program rather than a single surprise gift.
Choose the level of personalization
Existing design plus a name: Ask which current mat designs are suitable, then specify the exact name spelling, lettering style, location, and color. The base design and name placement must be confirmed before production; this is not an automatic edit to every stocked mat. A short name or initials can feel personal without occupying the central playing area.
Original full-surface artwork: If the recipient has a favorite palette, club identity, or family-approved illustration, send a production-ready file or clear concept for feasibility review. The printable surface supports artwork, but screen colors are not a substitute for a reviewed print proof. Use only artwork you own or have permission to reproduce; a character, sports-team mark, or another brand's logo is not automatically available for printing.
Fit the mat to the recipient's table
The current custom Mahjong mat program offers 60, 80, 84, 90, and 100 cm square options in the online preview, with rounded or square corners. It uses a printable fabric surface and a composite backing, with an approximately 2–3 mm finished profile. If the recipient already has a regular playing table, measure its usable top before choosing a size. Keep names, borders, and any birthday message away from the area where tiles will be handled.
An unbound edge and a requested solid-color bound edge can each start from one custom mat. Specify the desired edge color and ask for the full construction, price, and sample or proof route in the written quotation. You can preview a mat layout in 3D, then send the final artwork and spelling for review.
Would a Mahjong set be a better birthday gift?
First decide whether the recipient needs a playable set, a mat, or both. Current photographed ready-stock sets are acrylic references with 160 tiles in individual yellow boxes; dice, instructions, and other accessories are not included unless separately arranged. Ask for the actual SKU, tile size, availability, and delivery quote rather than assuming a particular face design or gift package is in stock.
If you want new tile faces, branded backs, or private-label packaging, review the fully custom set program. Its standard MOQ is 200 sets; smaller requests need a separate prototype or project-route discussion. A single name-personalized mat is usually the simpler inquiry when the goal is one individual present.
What should a birthday inquiry include?
- Recipient name exactly as it should print, and whether the gift should remain a surprise
- Existing mat design reference or original artwork, preferred colors, and any authorized logo
- Mat size, corner style, bound or unbound edge, quantity, and packaging preference
- Birthday date, delivery destination and ZIP code, plus whether a set or accessories are needed
Ask about production and shipping feasibility before promising a birthday arrival. A design proof and written quote are the right checkpoints; this page is not a stock or delivery guarantee. The mat order checklist covers the sample and artwork details in more depth.
If the gift is for a larger gathering, compare the table-count and reusable-artwork advice in our New Year's party guide.
Start with the person's name, then choose the product.
Share a mat reference or your own artwork, quantity, date, and destination. We can advise whether a one-piece personalized mat, current set reference, or larger custom project fits.
